From the Pastor

April 22, 2008

Getting ready for you summer mission trip?  Let me make a few suggestions that will allow you to get the most our of your mission experience.

1. Start with prayer asking God's direction and blessing.

This is the most important part of your planning.  Getting to the place in the world where God needs you the most.

2. Language and culture varies even with in the United States.  Start early learn the necessary language skills you will need to share Jesus.  Learn the culture as best as possible, language and culture allow the person you are witnessing to the best possible opportunity to understand the plan of salvation.

3. Lets talk about the water and food, these are related directly to your health.

The water even if its bottled will make you sick, I learned how to diminish the chances of the water making you sick and taking away valuable time needed to spread the gospel.  First when you start on your trip take a gallon of water that you normally drink.  Keep this container with you I use a canteen, as I drink the water I add bottled water from the area of the mission trip.  Eventually the canteen contains only water from the mission trip region.  Your body needs to get used to the minerals in the water.  Reverse the operation when you return home.  Your body has accustomed itself the minerals in the water from the mission trip and now needs to adjust itself to the water where you live.  Many people get sick when they return home.  Remember the ice in your soda is water.

Indigenous food may contain spices, type of cooking oil or other ingredients that you are not used to, be careful and do not eat off the street.

Your mission objective, whether you are building, teaching vacation bible school, or medical your main goal is to show them the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.

Worship Online now has a new studio, we started using it before it was finished, so some of the sermons do no have all the finishes.  If you church is starting a new Hispanic ministry and is in need of Spanish sermons and music go to worshiponline.net/church    you can log in as a visitor and try out some of the services.

For the future we are planning to have Chinese and Arabic services.
